Vandalia, IL to Godfrey, IL

We got a late start as usual and hit the road. It was lightly raining(also as usual) with a light headwind.

We ran into this guy who is biking for who knows how long. He's from New Mexico and was nice to talk to. It's fun running into fellow travelers. We later found out that he had been to several of the same places we had.

We stopped at this Amish farm stand to buy some presents for our Warm Showers hosts for the night.

We pulled in a little before 8 and after showering and putting on (semi)clean clothes, we sat outside with a beer and watched the storm develop. There were severe tornado and thunderstorm warnings and we were so happy to be inside. They cooked us a great meal of spaghetti and meat sauce with vegetables and cookies for desert. We did laundry and got to sleep inside in a big comfortable bed. It was wonderful. Bill (one of our hosts) is a big cyclist and biathlete and it was fun sharing stories. He also knows Westport and had this blanket on his couch. New Canaan? We can't escape Connecticut! He's also done cycling tours of the fingerlakes up in Ithaca.

He also told us about some books that I really do want to read about running and bike touring.

They also had an amazing dog named Jackson. He wouldn't leave us alone and we were happy with that.

Thank you guys so much!
