Linn, MO to Windsor, MO

HWe rode on highway 50 for a lot of the day after waking up from the settle inn and eating our money's worth of their complimentary and surprisingly diverse breakfast. We were making great time in the morning and were happy to pass this sign.

Then we found out Missouri has it's own California..

Highway 50 alternated between having wonderful wide well-paved shoulders and terrible deep gravel ones filled with potholes. It was about two hours into our ride and halfway down a huge hill when I hear CHUNK PFSSSSST SCREE SCREE SCREE... Our first flat

Here is Allie patching the tube by Apache Flats.. Fitting area to blow a tire..

While we were fixing this. A nice Pastor named Terry stopped to ask if he could help. He actually gave us a quick ride through the couple miles which were passing trough the busiest parts of Jeff City. There was no shoulder and lots of traffic on the highway there so we were glad to be on the other side.

After we got there. I realized my sunglasses weren't with us. They had fallen out of my pocket back where we were picked up. Terry was so nice and drove me back to get them while Allie finished fixing the flat and got out some food.

We also saved a turtle.

Later in the day we ran into a one lane construction zone on the highway. There wouldn't have been room for us and for cars/trucks to pass so we really didn't want to ride through it. We were stopped at a light waiting to pass into it when we started talking to William and his brother who were brining a cool old car home to fix it up. We threw our bikes in the back and squeezed into the front seats with them for a ride past the construction zone. We had some great conversation about William's athletic pursits and bike experience. They dropped us off right by where we could pick up the Katy trail again for our last 20 miles to our campsite.

Even with our flat and two short rides we rode over 80 miles. Our total distance travelled was probably closer to 90 though. Just makes up for the little bit we get lost every day..
We enjoyed meeting new friends and not having to ride through dangerous and narrow work zones.

We stopped in a little super good market that had delicious food. Allie and I are a loaf of bread with honey and peanut butter and dried fruit. Also bought some snacks for the next few days.

We stealth camped in a pretty park in Windsor. To bad there we no showers. .
Allies pad also has a leak that we will have to find/patch before we camp next.

All in all, good long day.
