Day 34( we think)

Today we woke up in Natural Bridges national park. I woke up at 4 am and decided there were still way too many stars out for us to get up. Got up at 5 and packed up camp, ate breakfast and were on the road before 7. We watched the sun rise and had the fastest morning ever. Our first real tailwind allowed us to do 40 miles so fast. It was beautiful riding but we feel the desert approaching. It was hot by 830 and boiling by 10. It is also the emptiest place we have ever been(and we've been in western Kansas). There we no services of any kind for the 140miles between blanding and hanksville. We did 90 miles by 5 and decided to keep going to get our first 100 mile day. Little did we know.. The winds shifted and we had gale force head and cross winds blowing clouds of dust into us for the last 12 miles. We had been averaging about 14mph up and down hills all day and for this last tiny downhill to our motel(woo hoo showers and laundry!) we fought to average 5. But made it. This is also the only place we can get online from. There has been no service for the past two days and the wifi here only works in the lobby! We might not have service for a few days going forward but we'll see.

Desert sun burns us
Evil winds thrust us over
One hundred miles.

102.7 miles
12.67mph
3929 ft climbing
