Day 22 to alexander, ks

Del woke up early and fixed the last lindering problem with my tire. It was so kind. We woke up around 8 and had an amazing breakfast at the little town bakery with Del. we had the 'cyclist special' which was turkey on a cinnamon Bon. Delicious

These small towns are really different. Del showed us a great view that we wouldn't have seen otherwise. Everyone is so close and friendly and knows everything about you. The nice baker knew what Del eats for breakfast and that his 25th anniversary is coming up. It was a view into small town living.

After breakfast, Del gave us a quick ride to the grocery store to pick up our maps. Thanks Del. It was truly a pleasure spending time with you and Debbie.

We had no wind all day, which was amazing after days of headwinds. We averaged our fastest yet. Even though we started super late we managed to get almost 80 miles in. We also took so many long breaks! We are starting to get into the middle of nowhere so any time we passed a restaurant or gas station (at least 20 miles apart) we stop and have a huge meal. At around 2. We ran into this guy focusing a camera on the far side of the road. He had a car full of goodies!

His name is Ian and he was sagging and making a documentary of Tyrone's ride. Tyrone is riding across the country to raise awareness for the importance of communication within families. (Broken homes or otherwise). He had a very moving story and we are looking forward to watching the documentary. Ian interviewed and filmed us. We exchanged information and hope to hear from them more as the ride progresses. The wind was with him and we were jealous..

We got into our 'campsite' as the sun was going down. It was the only place to stay in a 30 mile radius. It also happened to be a rest stop. We tried to hide our yet in a back corner away from the street lights.

We cooked a meal of pretty gross pasta soup and went to sleep. I slept on Allies pad to test my patch job from a few days back. . It was not successful and halfway through the night I was laying on the ground :/ must try again.
